Import procedures in Saudi Arabia

If you have decided to import an item into Saudi Arabia, you are expected to follow some procedures. It is important to note that the list changes from time to time. It is advisable to head to the Saudi Ministry of Commerce’s website to see if those changes have occurred.

1. You are expected to have a Certificate of origin with has been verified by a district chamber of commerce. The language should be in Arabic

2. You are expected to have three copies of the customs invoice. This may not be the case for those goods that do not have much worth.

3. You are expected to have three copies of the commercial invoice, which should state where the item is coming from, what the name of the company transporting it is, how many items it is, what brand it is, a brief description of the item, its value, and its weight.

4. You are expected to have an airway bill or a clean bill of lading or airway bill;

5. You should also have insurance documents for the items, especially when they are sent CIF. It should be the original document and it should have the Arabic translation attached to it.

6. You are expected to have a (Saudi Arabian Standards Organisation) SASO Certificate of Conformity. It mist have been given to you by a Standards Organization in the country the item is coming from.

Prohibited items for import in Saudi Arabia.

People that are about to travel to Saudi Arabia want to know what the prohibited items are. We have decided to put a list to help you.

1. You are not allowed to bring in any type of alcohol. As long as the item has alcohol, don’t bring it with you.

2. No one is allowed to bring in any time making kits, as well as books that teach time making. As long as the food or item has wine in it, don’t bring it.

3. You are prohibited from bringing any form of narcotics.

4. If you don’t have a prescription for a drug, do bring it. Your medicine will be allowed if it is for personal use and you have a prescription from a doctor.

5. You won’t be allowed to enter the country with toxic chemicals.

6. If you have natural pearls, you won’t be allowed to enter with it. Cultured pearls are allowed in a tiny amount.

7. You are not permitted to enter the country with any radio transmitter/communication equipment like VHF, walkie-talkies, and others that fall into that group.

8. Drones, night-vision tools, binoculars, and other tools that fall into that group are not allowed.

9. If a product has pork, don’t bring it with you.

10. If a product has a frog, don’t bring it with you.

11. Every type of object or statue that may be used for religious worship. This usually includes those that come in animal or human form. As long as it seems like it is for worship, it is not allowed. You can bring in kids’ toys if you want.

12. Every porn material is not allowed into the country.

13. You are not allowed to bring in any gambling item.
